WARREN TRIBUNE-CHRONICLE: CORDRAY FAR STRONGER

Columbus -- Citing his "cadre of credentials," the Warren Tribune Chronicle today endorsed Franklin County Treasurer Richard Cordray for state treasurer.

The newspaper credited Cordray's work to protect consumers from the predatory lending practices that have plagued Ohio and contributed to the state's national status as number one in home foreclosures.

They also noted his selection as County Leader of the Year in 2005 by American City and County magazine.

Ashtabula County Auditor Sandra O'Brien's "cadre of problems," on the other hand, are "troublesome," the newspaper noted.

O'Brien was cited by State Auditor Betty Montgomery for failing to have written cash management policies which facilitated an employee embezzlement. "She says she does not want written internal policies because she doesn't want potentially corrupt employees knowing how she would be watching," the Tribune Chronicle wrote.

The paper concluded: "Cordray's candidacy is far stronger."
